A child was taken to the hospital after becoming injured during a two car accident on Blue Avenue late Tuesday afternoon. 

According to Assistant Chief John Rodman of the Zanesville Fire Department, the driver with a car full of children hit the back of another vehicle near the Speedway gas station at the intersection of Blue and McIntire Avenues around 4:30 p.m.

One child was taken to the hospital to be checked out for non-life threatening injuries. 

The vehicle that was hit was able to be driven away from the scene while the car that caused the crash had to be towed.

During that time, access to and from I-70 was restricted at Blue Avenue.

The Zanesville police and fire departments, as well as ValueCare Ambulance responded to the crash.

No other injuries were reported.
