Maysville Avenue PNC Bank branch closes
June 18, 2019
PNC Bank recently closed its Maysville Avenue location leaving only one branch to remain open in Muskingum County.
According to Marcey Zwiebel, Director of Corporate Public Relations for PNC Bank, customers were notified in January of the upcoming branch closure, and the office observed its last day of operations on April 26.
“Increasingly, customers are using more convenient and alternative channels (online, mobile, ATM) to conduct their basic transactions that they previously would have gone into a branch to do,” said Zwiebel. “PNC has been going through an evaluation of our branch network and making adjustments, where needed.”
Customers who had accounts at the Maysville Avenue location were transferred to the sole remaining PNC branch 4.25 miles away along Maple Avenue across from Genesis Hospital.
The location opened in 1957 as a branch for The Citizens National Bank in Zanesville before merging into and subsequently being operated as part of the BancOhio National Bank in 1979, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation research division.
Later through multiple corporate mergers and name changes PNC Bank became the financial institution responsible for the branch located at 1719 Maysville Ave.
NAI Ohio Equities recently posted the property for sale at a price of $360,000 with a deed restriction of five years against financial uses.

I find it pretty annoying how I have to drive all the way to Maple Avenue when I live in South Zanesville just to get to the bank. South Zanesville feels pretty forgotten, compared to all of the business companions on the North end of Zanesville. I don’t even understand why the bank was closed to begin with. :/
