Adamsville man found after OVI crash along SR-93 Saturday night

By Staff Report

A man driving a Chevy pickup truck was cited late Saturday night following an accident along SR-93 just south of Piper Road in Salem Township.

Emergency personnel responded to a call around 10:00 p.m. that a pickup truck was in a ditch off the roadway. When authorities arrived they found the vehicle, however, the driver could not be located.

According to an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper, the single occupant and driver of the pickup truck was traveling northbound on SR-93 when the vehicle went off the right side of the roadway, striking an embankment and fence post, before finally hitting a Guernsey-Muskingum electric pole.

The driver was able to get the vehicle back onto the roadway, traveling southbound, before going off the left side of the roadway and striking another fence post. The trooper noted this will be considered two separate accidents.

After crashing, the man began walking towards Adamsville on foot, before troopers believe he was picked up and taken to his home in Adamsville.

The driver will be cited for failure to control and operating a vehicle impaired (OVI) and is currently at the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol.

According to a representative with Guernsey-Muskingum Electric, no customers are currently without power and they are currently on scene repairing the damaged electrical pole.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Adamsville Fire & EMS, AEP, and Guernsey-Muskingum Electric were all on scene.
