Local scholarship recipients through the Muskingum County Community Foundation will be given their awards and recognized for their success during an open house Thursday evening.

From 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m., the doors of MCCF will be open for the Scholarship Open House.

Current college students and recent high school graduates who received scholarships will have the opportunity to meet the donors who made their awards possible.

“We think it’s really important to have the donors and have the scholarship recipients get together so they can share stories about why the scholarship was established and also the recipients can talk with the donors about their future plans,” said MCCF CEO Brian Wagner.

According to Wagner, events such as the Scholarship Open House are important for students and the community because they encourage students to think about those who have come before them and the kind of legacy they’d like to leave.

“When I talk about legacy, I’m talking about a legacy for somebody who maybe has been in the workforce and this is the legacy they want to leave behind,” said Wagner. “But it also gives inspiration for kids who have graduated from high school, are in college now, about what kind of legacy they would like to leave.”

Wagner will make a few comments during the Thursday’s reception at 4:45 p.m.
