The Village of Roseville is recovering from a tornado that ripped through the heart of town overnight.

The National Weather Service determined the tornado as an EF 1 that began on Township Road 71A and ended near Cannelville.

Winds reached speeds nearly as high as 110 mph and brought down trees, branches and power lines when the tornado hit Roseville just before 2 a.m. Tuesday.

After going most of the day without electricity, power has been restored to the area, according to the AEP outage map.

A dollar amount in damages has not been estimated yet, although Muskingum County EMA Director Jeff Jadwin said several houses were struck by fallen trees.

Mayor Darrin Strate declared a state of emergency and disaster early Tuesday morning to authorize crews to begin the cleanup and repair process.

The Red Cross provided at the Roseville Community Center for those impacted by the storm.
