The driver of a Chevy Malibu was extricated from her vehicle Tuesday morning following an accident along Dillon Falls Road near the Falls Township Fire Station.

Emergency personnel responded to a call around 9:30 a.m. of a vehicle that had struck a railroad bridge. When authorities arrived, they found the single occupant trapped inside her vehicle and began to render aid.

Falls Township Fire and EMS personnel spent nearly an hour working on the vehicle before safely removing the woman. Firefighters on scene utilized various fire apparatuses, including the Jaws of Life, to remove a car door, a seat and other obstacles that impeded their safe removal of the woman.

According to a Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper, the occupant was driving east along Dillon Falls Road when, for an unknown reason, she went off the right side of the roadway and into a ditch before finally striking a concrete railroad bridge.

It is unknown if the driver will be cited. The woman was taken Genesis Hospital by ambulance with minor injuries, according to a trooper.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol and Falls Township Fire and EMS were on scene.
