It’s a morning full of cleanup and restoration in Roseville after what could have been a tornado or a very strong storm ripped through the village in the early morning hours.

Around 1:45 a.m., powerful winds brought down trees, branches and power lines and tore off shingles to some homes.

A temporary shelter is being opened at the Roseville Community Center at 13407 Karl Brown Rd., according Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency Director Jeff Jadwin.

A emergency shelter is available at the Roseville Community Center for the affected by the storm.

The primary concern, according to Jadwin, is restoring power since temperatures are expected to reach highs above 80 degrees Tuesday afternoon with more storms on the way.

Jadwin said the outage affects the southern two-thirds of the village.

In order to efficiently deal with the damage and prevent injury, gawkers are discouraged.

“We don’t want people coming in here to look at the damage. Stay away. Let our crews get in here and do their job,” said Jadwin. “AEP is trying to make sure everything is dead or grounded so we can get in. Nobody’s hurt so far. We want to keep it that way.”

For anyone unable to leave their home, Jadwin said to call 911 and ask for help.

Representatives from the National Weather Service are expected to be in town to assess the damage and determine if the storm was in fact a tornado.
