The driver of a Chevy Blazer was taken to Genesis Hospital Thursday evening following an accident along Maple Avenue near Northpointe Drive in Falls Township.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene around 6:15 p.m. to find that a SUV was in a creek adjacent to a bridge. When paramedics arrived, they found the single female occupant with injuries and transported her to the hospital.

According to an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper, the occupant was driving south on Maple Avenue when she went across multiple lanes of traffic and drove off the left side of the roadway.

She then struck an embankment, which ramped her vehicle and caused her SUV to rollover multiple times before finally coming into contact with the rocks of the creek-bed.

The cause of the accident is unknown, and it’s unclear if the driver will be cited.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Zanesville Police Department and Falls Township Fire & EMS were all on scene.
