Authorities are investigating an overnight used car lot fire that destroyed three cars and damaged five others on Adamsville Road in Zanesville.

The Zanesville Fire Department was called to Cadiz Auto Sales just after 3 a.m., about 20 minutes after the fire began.

Assistant Chief Doug Hobson said the nature of the fire is suspicious, and the Zanesville Police Department is involved with the investigation.

Currently, Hobson said investigators are working to obtain and review any available footage of the incident.

Just days before the fire began, a fallen tree smashed several vehicles on the lot. The fire appeared to have begun in the same area, but Hobson said the tree was not the cause.
