Furry Friend Friday: Gordon needs a home

By Jessica Johnston, Assistant News Director

Gordon is a three-year-old mix of many breeds.

Many of the pup’s features don’t align well with any singular breed, but his uniqueness comes from his eyes. Gordon has one ice blue eye and one half-brown, half-blue eye.

The Muskingum Dog Warden received a call from the Zanesville Police Department a couple of months ago asking for help with a vicious dog. When Deputy Dog Warden Brittany Callihan showed up, she said Gordon was laying on the back porch of a home.

When he was brought into the adoption center, Gordon had many scars around his head and was malnourished.

Callihan said Gordon’s scaring may be due to fighting as he could have previously been involved in dog fights.

After he arrived at the adoption center, Gordon’s owners informed the dog warden that they knew he was there and never picked him up.

Despite what may have happened in his past, the friendly dog is ready to go on to a new home.

The furry friend is much healthier than when he came into the facility but could gain another 10 pounds. Callihan said he should be about 80 to 85 pounds.

Gordon loves people and gets along well with other dogs. He enjoys being outside, going for walks and eating peanut butter out of his Kong.

Callihan said he shows signs of being house broken.

Gordon is available for adoption at the Muskingum County Dog Warden and Adoption Center. Anyone interested in adopting him can call the center to set up an appointment for a meet-and-greet at 740.453.0273.

Supporters of the Muskingum County Dog Warden and Adoption Center are encouraged to attend Comedy Night at Bryan Place in support of the center on Saturday, Feb. 23. For more information click here.
