Zanesville City Half Marathon making a return in September
February 14, 2019
The Zanesville City Half Marathon is making a return after a successful inaugural run in 2018.
On Sept. 14, 2019, runners from near and far will once again hit the pavement throughout the City of Zanesville.
“We are excited to once again host runners from around the state and region,” said race director Hanna Luburgh-Agin in a press release. “They will come to Zanesville and run an exciting and challenging route.”
According to the Muskingum County Community Foundation, its race in 2018 raised more than $30,000 to create grants in the area of Wellness and Recreation.
“The impact the funds raised from the event will be felt through out our community and beyond,” said MCCF CEO Brian Wagner.
The grants have potential use in targeting the opioid crisis or supporting a new initiative of collecting social determinants of health data throughout Muskingum County.
MCCF credits its partners — the City of Zanesville, Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department, hundreds of volunteers, corporate sponsors and supporters — with their part in making the inaugural half marathon a “tremendous success.”
“This is a giving and caring community, and we like to have fun, as well,” said Wagner. “The 2019 Zanesville City Half Marathon will be a great combination of both.”
Registration for September’s race is now open and can be found at www.mccf.org or www.muskingummultisports.com.
Sponsoring opportunities are available. Those interested can contact Luburgh- Agin for more information at (740) 624-5057 or by email at zvillecityhalfmarathon@gmail.com.
