Police searching for man who entered Genesis HealthPlex with pistol
December 7, 2018
Genesis HealthPlex on Maple Avenue was on lockdown late Friday afternoon after a man entered the building with a gun.
According to Lieutenant Derek Shilling of the Zanesville Police Department, the suspect was involved in a road rage incident involving another man upon pulling into the Genesis HealthPlex parking just before 4 p.m.
At some point during the encounter, the suspect brandished a pistol and threatened the other man. Police say the man with the gun and his two female passengers then entered the building, prompting the lockdown.
Upon investigation, police learned through surveillance video that the suspect had exited the building before officers arrived.
Police from Zanesville and Genesis searched the health complex and found the suspect’s gun and some clothing inside a bathroom.
According to Shilling, police believe to have identified the suspect and are continuing to search for him.
One of the women who entered Genesis HealthPlex with the suspect was arrested on scene for an active warrant and taken to the city jail.
The other woman was able to go through with her scheduled procedure.
No one was injured in the incident, and the Genesis HealthPlex is no longer on lockdown.
