Spike in voters seen during Tuesday’s Midterm Election

More voters than usual turned out to the polls during the Midterm Election earlier this week.

In Muskingum County, almost 53 percent of registered voters (29,086/55,015) cast their vote on Tuesday.

Compared to the 2017 General Election, only 32 percent of registered voters made it to the polls (17,528 of 54,277).

Here’s a breakdown of General Election turnout since 2014, according to data from the Muskingum County Board of Elections:

  • 2014 Midterm- 22,263/ 53357 (39.85 percent)
  • 2015 General- 23,153/ 51,784 (44.71 percent)
  • 2016 Presidential- 37708/ 53923 (69.93 percent)
  • 2017 General- 17,528/ 54,277 (32.29 percent)
  • 2018 Midterm- 29,086/ 55,015 (52.87 percent)
