Nearly 2,000 without power along Interstate 70

By Jessica Johnston, Assistant News Director

Approximately 1,905 people are without power spanning from Columbus, across Zanesville and on to nearly Wheeling.

Power to the area was lost just after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Above is a screenshot from the AEP Ohio Outage Map. The red triangle indicated that more than 1,000 customers are without power.

The long-spanning outage was caused by a part of a tree that took out the top of an AEP pole in Lancaster, according to AEP Ohio Media Representative Jessica Wright.

AEP crews are currently on the scene working to fix the issue. Power is anticipated to be restored to the entire area along Interstate 70 by 9 p.m. Tuesday.
