More than 300 AEP customers are without power in the area of Old Coopermill Road late Monday morning.

According to firefighters from South Zanesville, residents in the area were cutting down trees when one twisted and fell unexpectedly onto a power line.

AEP was in route to make repairs and restore power to the area.

A portion of Old Coopermill Road in the 3000 block is closed in the meantime.

According to the AEP outage map, power was lost around 10:15 a.m. and is expected to be restored around 2:30 p.m.
