Man sentenced to 10 years in prison after assaulting Dresden Police Officer

By Jessica Johnston, Assistant News Director

Bradley Boyer was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Tuesday in Judge Kelly Cottrill’s court.

Boyer was charged with one count of Aggravated Robbery, a first-degree felony, one count of Assault on a Peace Officer, a fourth-degree felony, one count of Obstructing Official Business, a fifth-degree felony and one count of Vandalism, a fifth-degree felony.

The four charges in Boyer’s case were a result of a confrontation that occurred in Dresden on May 31.

According to Assistant Prosecutor Ron Welch, in a previous Y-City News report, Boyer and two other men were pulled over for a traffic stop by officers. After the officers ran Boyer’s name, it was discovered that he had a child support warrant in his name.

Upon officers attempting to arrest Boyle, he resisted the arrest,  became violent to the point of being shocked with a Taser, broke the Taser and went after an officer’s gun while assaulting the officer in the process.

Boyer pleaded guilty to his charges on Aug. 27, after requesting new counsel on Aug. 20. His request for new counsel was denied, and he remained being represented by Nicole Churchill.

In addition to his 10 years in prison, Boyer must pay $1,200 in restitution.
