Over 100 grams of meth, other substances, cash seized during raid on Norwood Blvd.

A search warrant was served by the Muskingum County and Zanesville City Joint Drug Unit along with the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force, Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office and the Zanesville Police Department at 2202 Norwood Boulevard Wednesday afternoon.
During the search on Norwood, authorities seized over 100 grams of methamphetamine, over 20 grams of cocaine, marijuana, unspecified pills, about $30,000 in cash, three vehicles and two handguns.
One person was arrested during the time of the search.
The name of the individual who was arrested has not been released to the public at the time of publication.
“This is just another one of those cases that our joint drug unit is working everyday,” Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz said. “There’s numerous cases like this that they’re aware of, and it really is just these guys working together, taking the information that we get from the public, taking this information we get from police reports and the officers on the streets and then turning it into cases.”
Lutz added that while only one arrest was made in connection to this search warrant, more arrests could be made in the future.
“Drug dealing is not a single person business,” he said. “We’re looking for anybody and everybody that’s involved in it.”
Many people in the business of drug dealing are connected to each other, whether in business together, friends or in competition with one another, both Lutz and Zanesville Police Chief Tony Coury said.
Charges associated with the person arrested are still pending until Friday morning. The investigation is still ongoing.
The joint drug unit between the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office and the Zanesville Police Department is a four member task force that Coury said has been working diligently on many cases similar to the one on Norwood Boulevard.
“It’s just mind blowing what half a dozen guys are doing out here, and we don’t even have that many right now,” Coury said. “There is a small unit here, and they are just turning Muskingum County and Zanesville upside down.”
It’s unclear how much reach the specific person arrested had within the community, but drugs continue to be an ongoing problem throughout Muskingum County.
Coury said there were three overdoses in the city just Thursday morning and at least one drug related death within city limits this week.
The joint drug force has seized more substances and illegal items during raids this year than last year, and both Lutz and Coury said the members of the force plan to continue taking as many drugs off the streets as possible.
This story will be updated after the name of the man arrested and charges associated with him are released Friday morning.
