A teenager has been cited after causing an accident in Newton Township early Friday evening.

According to a Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper, the juvenile went through a stop sign at the intersection of Thompson Run Road and Foxfire Drive and drove into an oncoming pickup truck with multiple occupants, including a young child.

The driver of the car went over an embankment and into a tree, while the pickup truck drove into a ditch and overturned.

The trooper said no one in the accident appeared to be harmed, although at least one passenger in the pickup truck was taken to Genesis Hospital.

The teen has been cited for failure to yield in the incident.
