The weather decided to cooperate with the West Muskingum and Maysville boys soccer teams plans, even with an earlier start time on Tuesday evening.

The Panthers welcomed the Tornadoes on their home turf and promptly handed West Muskingum a 3-0 loss. Powered by a trio of goals, Maysville has now moved to 8-3-4 this season.

The Panthers got on the board when Andrew Morrison found the back of the net during a scramble for the ball. Maysville was awarded a free kick in close range to the net following a foul called on the West Muskingum defense.

Senior captain Cole Thomas was the one to take the kick, but his attempt was blocked. Failing to secure the kick in front of the net or clearing the ball, Morrison capitalized from close range.

The Tornadoes never materialized much offense, consistently turned away by the Maysville defense, that helped keep saves at a minimum. With each offensive push for West Muskingum, the ball was quickly cleared by the Maysville defense.

Following intermission, the Panthers knocked through two more goals, the last coming from Tyler Lantz on a long shot that curled in to the back left corner of the net.

Maysville will now travel to face the Heath Bulldogs, while West Muskingum gets a home bout with Caldwell on Thursday.
