Teen injured after crashing car into pole

An 18-year old was taken to Genesis Hospital after a crash late Tuesday night.

The Zanesville City Police are investigating a one car accident that occurred Tuesday night around 11:50 p.m. in front of Dollar General on Putnam Avenue.

According to the police report, Victoria Smith of Wilmington was driving North on Maysville Avenue while attempting to turn left onto Putnam Avenue when she struct a utility pole, knocking the pole over.

The Blue Saturn Sedan sustained irreparable damage to the front of the vehicle, causing the drivers airbag to deploy.

Zanesville Fire and Police were responded to the crash in which Smith was taken to the hospital.

Christopher Gillogly, a nearby resident, stated that he was lying in bed when he heard a loud noise and felt his building shake, which has connecting wires to the pole that was struck.

American Electric Power arrived on scene around 1:30 a.m. early Wednesday morning and removed the damaged pole.
