Morgan boy’s soccer tops John Glenn on Myers’ goal
September 11, 2018
True to their school’s nickname, the Morgan Raiders came into New Concord and stole a win right from under the John Glenn Little Muskies.
In a Muskingum Valley matchup that boasted the Muskies against a Morgan team fresh off a hard fought tie against Maysville, the Raiders used a combination of tough defense and opportunistic offense to capture the conference win. John Glenn had a chance to score late, but were turned away in the closing seconds.
The Raiders got on the board at the 37′ mark in the second half when Carver Myers capitalized on a well placed corner kick for a header right over the top of John Glenn goalie Logan Wilson. It was all the scoring that was needed.
Morgan will now look ahead to Warren High School on Thursday, who best the Muskies 3-0 on Saturday. John Glenn travels to Maysville one week from Tuesday for another MVL showdown.
Correction: A previous version of this story noted former head coach Barry Ross as the current head coach of Morgan.
