A motorcyclist was transported to Genesis Hospital after crashing his vehicle into a tree Wednesday night.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a motorcycle accident that occurred Wednesday around 10:30 p.m. off Old River Road.
The driver, Michael Shaw, told OSP Sargent Todd Henry that a deer came onto the road from his left which forced him to turn to the right. He was unable to re-correct the vehicle back onto the road, according to his statement.
Officers suspected that alcohol played a role in the crash and tested Shaw’s urine, according to the report.
Shaw sustained incapacitating injuries, according to the report, and was transported to Genesis Hospital.
OSP cited him for failure to maintain reasonable control and an OVI.
South Zanesville Fire Department was also on scene.
The accident is still under investigation.
