Multiple vehicle accidents on I-70 East

By Jessica Johnston, Reporter

At approximately 3:30 p.m. first responders were alerted to multiple vehicle accidents on I-70 East.

Originally, Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers believed there were four cars involved in an accident after traffic began to slow down on the highway and a semi truck stuck multiple other vehicles.

Upon further investigation, the EMA director said there were five separate accidents in the same area of the interstate and not one large accident. Officers believe the heavy rains are to blame for the multiple accidents.

Responders from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Falls Township Fire Department and the Emergency Management Agency were all on scene.

The semi was transporting hydrogen peroxide that was believed to be leaking out of the truck, but officers discovered that the truck’s transmission was damaged and leaking fluids. Hydrogen peroxide did not make it onto the roadway.

No one was transported for injuries.

Traffic is moving through the area slowly. The accidents are anticipated to be cleaned up by about 7:30 p.m.
