The East Muskingum Board of Education has named Dave Adams the district’s Interim Superintendent following the official resignation of Jill Sheridan during Thursday night’s meeting.

Adams currently serves as Assistant Superintendent for the East Muskingum Local Schools.

Pending action during the next meeting of the Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center (MVESC), which oversees school districts within six counties in southeast Ohio, including Muskingum, the change will go into effect Aug. 17.

Sheridan served as superintendent for the past eight years and will now step into a new role with the Ohio Department of Education.

According to School Board President Gail Requardt, the board will immediately begin the process of selecting the next superintendent.
