Scholarship Central fulfilling AmeriCorps positions with three recent college grads

By Nick McWilliams, Sports Director

The Scholarship Central Access Program at The Muskingum County Community Foundation is looking for three recent college graduates to help fulfill specific jobs in the community.

The positions, provided through AmeriCorps Ohio College Guides through College Now Greater Cleveland, place the college grads in classrooms and other settings to connect with potential incoming freshmen in universities across the state and country. The newly hired graduates will assist in giving accurate information in financial planning and approaches to the college experience for the students they mentor.

“Ohio College Guides serve as an adviser by mentoring and guiding students, who usually are first-generation college-goers, low-income or a minority, by helping them get the information they need so that the students and their parents can plan for their futures after high school ends,” according to a press release from The Muskingum County Community Foundation.

The position will run from Aug. 1 through June 28 of next year.

Those hired will receive healthcare, an allowance for living expenses, $5,920 in education awards and a deferment on loans that are eligible while employed over the 11-month period.

All applications are to be sent to goo.gl/kU6mWE, with no applications to be sent through email or on paper. All questions can be directed to Katie McCarthy at 740-453-5192.
