United Airlines flight makes loop over county
August 13, 2021
Friday the 13th is having a least one interesting turn of events over the skies of Muskingum County.
A United Airlines flight conducted an entire 360-degree loop early Friday afternoon.
United Airlines Flight 546, which departed San Diego, California earlier this morning made a unique maneuver when passing over Zanesville.
As it passed nearly directly above Genesis Hospital, pilots diverted the plane southeast towards the Zanesville Municipal Airport.
Instead of lowering its altitude, the plane made what is essentially an elongated circle as if it was headed back west.
It then completed the turn and continued along its way towards the flight’s scheduled destination in Washington, DC.
While the exact reason for the maneuver is unknown, it appears it could be related to an ongoing storm above the U.S. Capitol.
