The Muskingum County Commissioners met with the Muskingum County Engineers Office to open bids for the 2018 Road Resurfacing Program Thursday morning.

Matt Russell, the administrative deputy for the Muskingum County Engineers Office, opened and presented the bids to the commissioners.  The bids were for multiple road projects around the county. There will be nine different roads resurfaced under the program.

“We’ll take everything under advisement and come back to the commissioners with a recommendation once we look at the bids and see if they’re in line with the estimates and things like that,” Russell said.

Two companies bid on the various road projects; the Shelly Company and Shelly and Sands, Inc.

The projected completion date for the projects is about 10 weeks away. The anticipated completion date is Sept. 7.

“We would hope that the contractors would be done by then since that’s the scheduled date of completion,” Russel said.
