Dresden & Company competes for statewide Tech Ohio StartUp award

By Staff Report

A local company is eyeing to win this year’s Startup Culture Award from TechOhio, a statewide organization that supports and fosters innovative companies and their development across the state.

Dresden & Company, founded in 2019, is a national direct-sales business based in Dresden, Ohio.

As previously reported last year, the startup is working to revive the tradition of basket weaving in Dresden where the craft has been practiced for over a century.

According to Brenton Baker, Director of Marketing and Communications for the company, in a little more than a year the business has grown to have independent sales representatives in over 37 states while establishing a reputation for building high-quality products that customers demand.

Baker credits the assistance of their talented and devoted employees who as the pandemic began to reach the United States helped quickly pivot and transform portions of the company from crafting baskets to creating face shields for area medical facilities.

According to Baker, being able to take part in keeping healthcare workers safe provided a sense of pride and satisfaction to the company’s employees.

Dresden & Company is currently a semifinalist for the state’s Startup Culture Award, having received the most votes of any startup in all of southeast Ohio.

Baker is asking the local community to help support their goal of bringing the award back to Dresden later this year.
