Portion of Y-Bridge temporarily closed
September 26, 2020
A portion of the historic Y-Bridge will be closed over the weekend as crews work to inspect and repair damage done to the Linden Avenue railroad bridge earlier this week.
According to Doug Merry, Public Safety Director for the City of Zanesville, on Monday, September 21 a box truck struck the bridge.
Merry said that the truck was driven by a male driver along with two female passengers.
All three were uninjured in the crash.
The truck was also empty of any cargo or material, Merry added.
Beginning at 6 a.m. Saturday, September 26 and lasting until 7 p.m. on Monday, September 28, the Linden Avenue portion of the Y-Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic.
Northbound traffic will be rerouted westward onto West Main Street turning right onto State Steet and then turning right again onto Lee Street until arriving back onto Linden Avenue.
Southbound traffic will be rerouted westward onto Lee Street turning left at State Street and then left again until arriving back at the Y-Bridge.
Detour signs will be posted to assist with traffic.
