The Village of New Concord’s summer concert series “Celebrate New Concord” kicks off Tuesday evening.

Akron Pan Collective will be the first of six bands to perform this summer. The performances will take place on the first and third Tuesdays in June, July and August. Each performance will begin at 7 p.m. in Village Park in downtown New Concord, weather permitting.

The summer lineup is as follows:

  • Tuesday, June 12 — Akron Pan Collective
  • Tuesday, June 26 — Timberline
  • Tuesday, July 10 — Cambridge Alumni Jazz Band
  • Tuesday, July 24 — Ladies of Longford
  • Tuesday, Aug. 7 — The Coshoctones
  • Tuesday, Aug. 21 — Up 2 No Good

CNC was started in 2000 when Village Park held a free performance by the Muskingum College Faculty Brass Quintet. As a result of the positive turnout at the performance, CNC officially began in 2001 and was founded by Dr. William Schlacks, the former director of the Muskingum College Faculty Brass Quintet, according to the New Concord, OH official website.

The rock n’ roll band HB7 will be performing at the New Concord’s Fireman Festival independent from CNC this year.
