JC Penney plans to close 9 Ohio stores

In May, one of the largest apparel and home retailers in the country announced it was filing bankruptcy.
Friday, J. C. Penney Company, Inc. announced it will be closing 154 stores nationwide, nine being in Ohio.
Zanesville’s JC Penney location at the Colony Square Mall was not on that list.
The nine stores closing in Ohio include:
- Akron
- Chapel Hill Mall
- Tri County Plaza
- Alliance
- Carnation Mall
- Ashtabula
- Ashtabula Mall
- Cincinnati
- Governors Plaza
- Defiance
- Northtowne Mall
- East Liverpool
- Summit Square Shopping Center
- Parma
- The Shoppes at Parma
- Piqua
- Miami Valley Mall
