Century National Bank to close Zanesville Kroger location
June 7, 2020
Century National Bank, a division of Park National Bank, announced Friday that as part of its strategic yearly review they have decided to close the Zanesville Kroger location along Maple Avenue.
Kristin Baughman, Marketing Manager for Century National Bank, said the bank plans to close the location on September 30 of this year.
“Our office located almost next door at the intersection with Military Drive offers a drive-through and better meeting space for private conversations about loans and investments,” said Baughman.
The bank also operates another location just north along Maple Ave. at Brandywine Blvd., which offers extended hours. It also has a full-service drive-through, as well as ample office space for customers and parking.
“We believe those facilities are better suited to meet the expectations of our customers in that area,” Baughman continued.
The bank is also still exploring the possibility of keeping the ATM inside Kroger for extra convenience.
“Each year, Century National Bank President Pat Nash analyzes the trends and circumstances related to every aspect of our services. He makes decisions annually about where it makes sense to open, close or relocate an office,” Baughman explained.
With the bank having three locations, each within such close proximity of one another, as well as customers being less likely to use a branch for routine transactions, the bank decided to close the branch which could offer the least amount of services to customers.
“While disappointing to those who enjoy using that office, it makes sense in our big picture service to that part of our community,” said Baughman.
“Zanesville will continue to be served with several offices,” Baughman explained. “Our bankers are involved at every level of our community, from serving on organization boards to volunteering in local events.”
Employees at Century National Bank regularly volunteer at Christ’s Table, and the bank regularly makes donations to local community non-profits, such as a recent $81,000 donation to the United Way 2020 Campaign.

Another example of how a non-locally owed bank (park) makes bad decisions for the community. Century should never had sold-out to Park; this is the result.

If you close the Kroger branch are you going to have the other Branches open on Sundy and until 7PM through the week and late on Saturday. I don’t get off until 6PM through the week and 1PM on Saturday. Thanks for ruining something that worked

It’s really nice to have a bank that’s open on Sunday. Some people like the idea of banking and grocery shopping all in one. An ATM is okay but it’s not very personable.

I understand fully that the overall picture doesn’t think they need 3 banks so close, but it’s the only one open on Sunday. It’s ideal for older folks such as myself and my husband to use this bank. Many times we have had to go to the store on Sunday and we were able to use the bank and then get our groceries. I think it’s a great mistake closing it up but I’m sure progress will win. It’s just sad that a handful of people doesn’t matter.

We use the Kroger’s bank possibly as much as our neighborhood bank because of being open on Sunday’s and inside Kroger which is where we do most of our grocery shopping. we are not Walmart grocery shoppers. I agree with the others it has to be handy for the people living close and using scooters or have no transportation to be able to do both banking and shopping in one trip. Reconsider and close one of the other branches.

I agree with the first comment the one on Military is the worst drive up ATM in the county. A lot of seniors depend on the Kroger bank for their needs and being the only bank open on Sundays is a big plus for a lot of seniors in that area.

While I’m aware of your banks on military and brandywine they are not open in Sunday’s! The one on military is terrible ! Access is an issue that’s the j e you should close ! I’m a nurse and have multiple patients seniors who live in APts behind Krogers area and they rely on that bank. They don’t have car access but can walk or use scooters to Krogers for banking and groceries! The two you mentioned are not easily accessed for the handicapped and they do not use a drive thru! The military one is useless! Please reconsider and think of our elderly who use the Krogers bank they have no transportation and limited assistance to get to their banks and groceries . This was great for them . That’s why Walmart bank works they can get transportation to one place and do banking groceries etc think of how difficult it is for them to find transportation when they have no family
