The deadline to nominate outstanding women in the Muskingum County community for the 32nd Annual Women of Achievement Awards is quickly approaching.

Nominations for the 2020 Women of Achievement Program will be accepted through Jan. 29 and winners will be honored during a banquet on April 8.

The achievement awards are designed to honor women in the community for their contributions to education, volunteer work, managerial work or in their professional roles.

A panel of judges will review information submitted by the nominator and assess if the nominee meets the criteria for the awards. The panel of judges is made up of past recipients and community leaders.

In 1988, the Muskingum Family Y began the achievement program to recognize women in the community who succeed in different endeavors.

“Furthermore, the tribute increases community awareness, understanding, and appreciation of how women contribute to the economic and social health of the community,” the program description states.

Over the past 31 years, 227 women in the Muskingum County community have been recognized through the program.

During the banquet, held at the Ohio University Zanesville-Zane State Campus Center, winners will be inducted into the Academy of Women of Achievement.

Proceeds from the banquet provide scholarships to local women that attend Ohio University Zanesville or Zane State College for higher education.
