Furry Friend Friday: Leonard is looking to learn about a new family
January 17, 2020
Despite his strong build, Leonard is a lovable dog that’s looking for a family full of fun.
Leonard is an approximately 3 year-old Pitbull-mix. He came into the Dog Warden and Adoption Center as a stray back in August.
Despite a few adopters taking notice of the pup who enjoys to “smile,” Leonard has yet to go to a new home.
When Leonard first arrived at the adoption center, he was very loud and did not know commands. According to Deputy Dog Warden Alicia Myers, volunteers and staff have worked diligently with Leonard who knows basic commands now and has given up his previous ways of noisiness.
Myers added that Leonard has really come a long way since his intake day.
Volunteer Doug McQuaid echoed Myers to say that Leonard is very willing to learn new things and is treat motivated.
Leonard’s favorite treat is McDonald’s chicken nuggets.
While Leonard gets along well with other dogs, Myers and McQuaid said he may be too much to handle for a cat or small children.
Despite his strength, Leonard walks well when he’s in a harness.
Like many dogs that are adopted through the Muskingum County Dog Warden and Adoption Center, Myers said Leonard would benefit from some training to help his get accustomed to his new lifestyle once adopted. Myers recommended adopters reach out to PetValu about training classes.
Leonard is neutered and ready to be adopted. Anyone interested in adopting him can call the Muskingum County Dog Warden and Adoption Center to set up an appointment for a meet-and-greet at 740.453.0273.
