Fire that damaged Zanesville family’s Ohio Street home under investigation

By Christine Holmes, News Director

The Zanesville Fire Department is investigating a fire on Ohio Street that displaced a family earlier this week.

Just before 1:30 a.m. Monday, firefighters were called to 1127 Ohio St.

When crews arrived on scene, they found the second story in flames.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Doug Hobson, all the residents, including two grandparents, a mother and her two sons, ages 4 and 8, had already evacuated the house.

Hobson said firefighters were quickly able to knock the fire down, but the upstairs bedroom where the fire started is a total loss.

Smoke and water damage throughout the house was also sustained.

The American Red Cross was called to assist.

According to Hobson, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
