Several buildings in Downtown Zanesville are being asked to evacuate as the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad investigates a suspicious package.

According to Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz, the package was located near the courthouse.

No one is allowed on Fourth Street during the investigation.

Additionally, onlookers have been asked to stay back at least two blocks from the area.

Muskingum County EMA Director Jeff Jadwin is asking the public to avoid Downtown during this time.

The Zanesville Police Department, Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office and Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency are all on scene.
