The driver of a Ford F-150 was detained Thursday afternoon following an accident along West Main Street near Luck Avenue in the City of Zanesville.

Emergency personnel responded to a call around 11:30 a.m. of a possible injury accident involving a truck. When authorities arrived they found that the vehicle had gone off the left side of the roadway and into a utility pole.

According to a ZPD officer, the vehicle was traveling westbound along West Main Street when it went left-of-center and struck a utility pole. Witnesses observed the vehicle swerving over the roadway prior to the accident.

The accident is still under investigation, however, the male driver was detained for a possible OVI after a field sobriety examination.

The traffic lights at West Main Street and Pine Street were without power following the accident. Employees from the City of Zanesville were able to connect a backup generator to safely alleviate traffic congestion which occurred from the down traffic signal.

The Zanesville Police and Fire Departments were both on scene, as well as AEP who was called to repair the damaged pole and restore power to those affected.
