Century old building razed downtown
November 25, 2018
Tuesday, crews were seen completing demolition of the building located at 315 Main Street in Downtown Zanesville.
The property is currently owned by the Zane-Zenith Company, which also owns six other parcels in the adjacent block, including the historic Zane-Zenith building which houses both the Graham & Graham Law Firm and the North Valley Bank Business Banking Center.
The building was purchased by the Zane-Zenith Company in November of 1988 from Robert and Mary McCarty.
While county records do not indicate the year the structure was constructed, a photo from 1913, shows the building operating as a 25¢ department store.
Crews began demolition on November 12th, and it is currently unclear what will be done with the property.

Tearing a building down, is called razing it.

Wouldn’t it be cheaper to keep the equipment in downtown. And the city get a bundle package from the contractor to raze all the buildings, save time and money.
The down town of banks, churches, law firms, and the greatest car lot in the county.
I think that pretty much let’s the world know what the city is all about.
