The Zanesville Museum of Art is hosting Free Family Day on Aug. 25 to help kick off the school year for students in the area.

Starting at 2 p.m., admission to the museum is free for everyone in attendance.

Along with regular museum exhibits, families who visit can also participate in back-to-school themed activities.

Three stations featuring different school subjects including science, math and language arts will be set up throughout the museum for children and their families to create art.

“Here at the ZMA, we are very passionate about how the visual arts enrich learning experiences, and this is the perfect time of year to celebrate that in a really fun way,” said ZMA Education Coordinator Misty Johnson.

There will also be live music by Mark Snider and Jay Wince, as well as refreshments during Free Family Day.

According to ZMA, the museum is working to highlight the importance of arts and keep it alive during a time when STEAM programs (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) are being heavily emphasized in schools.

ZMA hosts Free Family Days on a quarterly basis.
