Saturday morning State Representative Adam Holmes, who represents both Muskingum and Guernsey Counties in the Ohio House of Representatives, personally delivered a proclamation by the Ohio House in recognition of Donald’s Donuts 60th year of business.
For owner Tom Warne, it’s a huge source of pride that he can carry on the business and legacy that his father Donald created, while also working with his son Daniel to continue on the family-owned business.
“It’s a big source of pride for me and my son that it’s still a family business, you know I’m one of five kids and all of my siblings work in the company,” Warne said. “It’s one of the reasons people really like us.”
Holmes delivered the proclamation Saturday wearing a Donald’s Donuts T-shirt. For Homes, Donald’s Donuts is an iconic local establishment, one of which he believes highlights the very best of the Zanesville community.
“People recognize that we are just a bunch of working-class guys, just doing the best we can and we are lucky that we have the community embrace us like they do,” remarked Warne about the outpouring of local support throughout the years.
The proclamation which Warne said he intends to have framed and proudly displayed in their store also highlights the legacy of his father Donald and their commitment to continually improve on their service and ingredients to provide “the best donuts in town.”
Warne started working with his dad when he was thirteen years old, the only job he’s ever held. For him, the time he spent with his father was special, and it’s something he takes pride in continuing with his son who will eventually continue on the legacy.
“Daniel gets the pride factor, and he gets the obligation to the community and every time Daniel and I sit there making donuts we think about my dad,” Warne said.
