Dog licenses on sale now for 2020

The Muskingum County Auditor has announced the 2020 sale of dog licenses which began Sunday, Dec. 1.
According to the Ohio Revised Code, section 955.01, all dogs older than three months of age are required to have a license.
Any one-year licenses that are purchased after Jan. 31 will have an additional $10 penalty fee attached to the license cost. After Jan. 31, licenses can be purchased at the Muskingum County Auditor’s Office, the Animal Shelter Society, Inc. or the Muskingum County Dog Warden and Adoption Center.
Similar to years past, one-year licenses can be purchased for $10.75 at each of the following “agent sites” throughout Muskingum County.

Three-year dog licenses, as well as permanent dog licenses can only be purchased at the Muskingum County Auditor’s Office and the Muskingum County Dog Warden and Adoption Center.
Online purchases of one-year dog licenses can be made at www.doglicenses.us/oh/muskingum. Purchases made online will have an additional $2 fee per license, as well as a $0.50 postage and handling fee.
Licenses can be ordered by mail by sending the appropriate fee along with a self-addressed envelope to the Muskingum County Auditor at 401 Main St. Zanesville, OH 43701. The mailed request must also include the owner’s name, address, phone number and a description of the dog, which includes the age, sex, color and breed.
Kennel licenses can also be purchased at the Muskingum County Auditor’s Office for $50 through Jan. 31. After Jan. 31, the fee increases to $100. Anyone buying a kennel license must also have a vendor’s license prior to purchasing the kennel license.
Three-year licenses and permanent licenses are non-refundable and non-transferable.
