A local business owner is planning to open a new gas station in Zanesville, Y-City News has learned.
The project has already received many of its approvals and at least one underground tank has already been installed.
According to Zanesville Community Development Director Matthew Schley, the gas station will be located at the intersection of Linden Avenue and Adair Avenue.
Muskingum County Property Records show the lot, located just south of Jiffy Lube on Linden Avenue, roughly .14 acres, is owned by Mahakal Holdings. It was purchased in February 2020, along with other properties, for $900,000.
The site was the former location of a car wash and duplex. There is a Community Bank ATM on the front of the property facing Linden Avenue.
Schley said the owner is AJ Patel who also has other properties along that street including AJ’s Fuel Food Mart & Drive Thru.
Plans have mostly been completed at this point, said Schley, who added that the Zanesville Board of Zoning Appeals has already approved the development of a gas station at the site.
Crews had previously been seen marking out the lot and installing an ungrounded tank that will hold fuel.
It’s not presently known if the gas station will have a national affiliation.
According to online records, Patel also owns the shopping center directly to the south along Linden Avenue, including the laundromat, as well as Just 1 More Bar & Grill and the adjacent Zane Food Mart.
