New Concord and its surrounding community – 1,393 AEP Ohio customers in all, have been without power since 5 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
According to the company’s outage website, the cause is not yet determined but the estimated restoration time is after 8 p.m.
The outage has affected Muskingum University’s radio station, WMCO, which is currently offline.
As of 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, it is 90 degrees Fahrenheit in New Concord with temperatures set to fall to the low 80s by sunset.
