Fondale’s Tavern II announced the start of its delivery services Tuesday, but the local bar didn’t stop at food deliveries.

Community residents can now order beer and wine coolers for delivery from Fondale’s Tavern.

Bar manager Vickie Nutter, who has managed the bar for just over a month, said the idea for delivering beer came from a customer that said ‘it’d be great’ if the delivery menu included alcohol.

Nutter asked her beer distributor to check the bar’s licensing, as the establishment holds an off-premises license similar to that of a take-out place, to see if the suggestion was possible.

“It just has to be in the original container, original caps,” Nutter said. “Same with if you were to come in right now and order a beer to go, if you decide to sit here and talk and you take the cap off that beer, you now cannot take that beer with you, it’s been uncapped. So, (as) long as everythings in the original container with the original caps, it can be delivered.”

Fondale’s has yet to make its first beer delivery as the tavern began its delivery services on Tuesday, April 30. Much like the bar’s food, Nutter said she expects the delivery services to take off once word-of-mouth spreads around town.

“I’m surprised, in the area that we are, that we have excelled so much … I never dreamed ever, doing the pizzas that it would be the hit that it is. We hear it daily, we have the best pizzas in town,” Nutter said.

In addition to pizzas, Fondale’s serves subs, sandwiches and salads, but with the addition of delivery, more items will be added to the menu including burgers, fish sandwiches, fries and chicken fingers. Nutter said she wants to eventually work up to serving home-cooked meals.

“We have very high quality ingredients, we’re not skimpy with any of our food, which is a plus,” Nutter said. “I think we’ve got great prices, customer service here, I think everybody is happy with the girls that we have, with the staff that we have.”

The tavern, located on Bridge Street in Duncan Falls, currently has six part-time employees and is looking for some additional part-time kitchen help who can deliver. With the establishment now delivering beer, employees must be 19 years of age or older.

In order to have beer delivered to a residence, the paying person must be 21 years-old or older with a valid ID that the delivery driver can photograph. Each photographed ID will be sent to Nutter to ensure that underage persons are not receiving alcohol from the establishment.

In addition to adding incentives to the bar’s menu, Nutter said with the beer delivery service, it saves local residents from driving into town or all the way to Zanesville for alcohol, especially if the residents have already been drinking.

“So, for me, if we can save somebody from making that drive then, you know, so be it,” Nutter said.

Fondale’s Tavern II is open from 11 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. and delivers until midnight.

A previous version of this story stated that Nutter had managed the bar for just over a year.
