ODOT crews working steady throughout Saturday snowstorm

Muskingum County is under a level two snow emergency as the snowfall continues into the evening hours.
According to Morgan Overbey, the District 5 spokesperson for ODOT, snowfall was at its heaviest between 3 and 5 p.m.
During that time, multiple accidents and stranded vehicles were reported to dispatchers, according to scanner traffic.
Just after 6 p.m., Overbey said conditions were better, but could change at any time.
According to Overbey, ODOT crews in Muskingum County began working 12 hour shifts at 4 a.m. and have been working throughout the day as snowfall increased.
Currently, Overbey said 22 crews are spread throughout the county treating roadways.
Overbey said travelers should give themselves extra time to reach their destination.
“Make sure you’re giving our plow trucks plenty of room to work. They’re typically driving at a slower speed than the posted speed limit,” said Overbey. “As long as you give them plenty of room to work, we can get our job done.”
