The rain and cold have been overwhelmingly pleasant. Fortunately, it looks like the rain will be gone for Friday and Saturday. There’s a lot of art, holiday events, live music and food going on this weekend. Have an event this weekend or during the coming weekends you would like to see in the planner? Thursday

  • New Horizons/Contemporary Works by Christiane Curry on display from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Linn Auditorium at the Zanesville Museum of Art. Curry is a Columbus-based water media artist.
  • Rembrandt – The Consummate Etcher and Other 17th-Century Printmakers Exhibit at the Zanesville Museum of Art every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and  Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. from Oct. 25 through Jan. 5.
  • Food for Thought Cooking Healthy and Managing Stress at the Ohio University Zanesville-Zane State Campus Center from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Chef Marco Adornetto and culinary arts students from Zane State will make the healthy recipes and have demonstrations. Participants can sample the foods and then take the recipe home to try in their own kitchens.
  • Perspective Lecture Series: Christiane Curry at the Zanesville Museum of Art from 6 to 7 p.m.

Friday

  • New Horizons/Contemporary Works by Christiane Curry on display from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Linn Auditorium at the Zanesville Museum of Art. Curry is a Columbus-based water media artist.
  • Rembrandt – The Consummate Etcher and Other 17th-Century Printmakers Exhibit at the Zanesville Museum of Art every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and  Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. from Oct. 25 through Jan. 5.
  • Imagination Tour: Rembrandt for Kids at the Zanesville Museum of Art from 4 to 5 p.m. The event is a child-friendly, interactive event. It is free and open to the public. Families with preschoolers and kindergarteners are encouraged to attend.
  • Buckeye Pep Rally and Auction hosted by Big Brothers Big Sisters at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds Veterans Complex from 6 to 11 p.m. The reverse raffle drawing will be held at the event that features tailgate-style food, silent and live auctions, 50/50 raffle, games and a DJ.
  • Chef in the Vineyard Dinner at Terra Cotta Vineyards in New Concord from 7 to 9 p.m. The dinners are two-entree, multi-course meals. Make a reservation by calling 740.872.3791.
  • ODS Ballroom Bash at the Masonic Temple Building from 7 to 11 p.m. The event is BYOB and $10 at the door.

Saturday

  • Breakfast with Santa in the Food Court at the Colony Square Mall from 8 to 9:30 a.m.
  • Holiday Bazaar at the Fraternal Order of Eagles from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be 50 vendors at the event. To be a vendor it costs $25, and eager participants should contact Kelly at 740.607.2062.
  • Artfest 2018 at the Welcome Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shoppers can come to browse and purchase perfectly created gifts for the holidays.

  • Winter Farmers’ Market hosted by the Zanesville Farmers’ Market at Weasel Boy Brewing Company every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Nov. 3 through Dec. 15.
  • Beginning Drawing Techniques at the Zanesville Museum of Art from 2 to 4 p.m. The class, inspired by draftsman Rembrandt van Rijn, is open to beginning and experienced artists alike. The three-part class (Nov. 3, 10 and 17) will teach the use of cross-hatching, dramatic lighting and expressive line work in drawing. The cost is $80 for members and $100 for non-members.
  • Fellers Gallery: Student Exhibition Opening at the Zanesville Museum of Art from 2 to 3 p.m.
  • Reel Meal is back for November and this month’s documentary is Look and See about Wendell Berry. The event begins at 6 p.m. It’s hosted at Seilers’ Studio and Gallery. It’s free and open to the public but donations are accepted. Participants are encouraged to bring their own viewing snacks.
  • Newbees & The Duo Jetts live at Weasel Boy Brewing from 8 to 11 p.m.

Sunday

  • Friends Day at First Baptist Church in South Zanesville from 10 to 11 a.m. A Christian concert will be put on before serving a Thanksgiving lunch afterward.
  • Community Thanksgiving Dinner at Hillside Seventh Day Adventist Church beginning at 12 p.m. All are welcome and encouraged to bring family, friends and an appetite to the free meal.
  • “A Storybook Christmas” Parade presented by the South Zanesville Business Association from 2 to 3 p.m. on Maysville Pike.
  • Beat Michigan Kickoff Party at Eaglesticks Golf Club from 4 to 5 p.m. There will be prizes, games, a silent auction and the viewing of the game from 8 to 11 p.m. The event benefits the National Autism Association.
  • Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra Concert at Brown Chapel from 7 to 8 p.m.
  • Zanesville Handbell Festival at Grace United Methodist Church from 7 to 8 p.m.
