Weekend Planner Nov. 9 to Nov. 11

November is in full swing. Thus, it’s coat weather. Although, it looks like the first sight of snow for the season is holding off until earlier next week. Regardless, there’s a lot going on throughout the weekend days starting right now. With it beginning to feel a lot like the holidays, all of the holiday shopping it becoming available. Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about Thanksgiving. Speaking of kindness, starting Sunday it’s “Dude, Be Kind Week” in Muskingum County, so spread the love and be kind to those around you. Lastly, Sunday is Veterans Day, so thank a veteran or someone currently serving for their service. Have an event this weekend or during the coming weekends you would like to see in the planner? Friday, Nov. 9:

  • Susie’s Favorites Christmas Holiday Open House from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Susie’s Favorites (2500 E. Pike, Zanesville).
  • New Horizons/Contemporary Works by Christiane Curry on display from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Linn Auditorium at the Zanesville Museum of Art. Curry is a Columbus-based water media artist.
  • Rembrandt – The Consummate Etcher and Other 17th-Century Printmakers Exhibit at the Zanesville Museum of Art every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and  Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. from Oct. 25 through Jan. 5.
  • Adventurous Palette Printmaking Edition with Michael Seiler at Seiler’s Studio and Gallery from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wine, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres can be enjoyed during the class led by Seiler. The class is $37 for members and $47 for nonmembers. A $10 group discount is available for groups of four or more.
  • Hold Em Tournament #2 at the Traveling Humidor at 7:30 p.m.
  • Those Crazy Ladies in the House on the Corner at the Zanesville Community Theatre from 8 to 10 p.m. The show is a comedy centered around three elderly women, their nephew and a nurse.

Saturday, Nov. 10:

  • New Horizons/Contemporary Works by Christiane Curry on display from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Linn Auditorium at the Zanesville Museum of Art. Curry is a Columbus-based water media artist.

  • Veterans Day Parade in Downtown Zanesville from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. All parade participants must meet at Secrest Auditorium at 8:30 a.m.
  • Art Voyagers hosted by the Zanesville Museum of Art from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. This event is for kindergarten through 3rd-grade students interested in exploring history throughout the globe with incorporated art forms.
  • Model Train Open House from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. second floor of 24 S. Sixth St. in downtown Zanesville.
  • Winter Farmers’ Market hosted by the Zanesville Farmers’ Market at Weasel Boy Brewing Company every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Nov. 3 through Dec. 15.
  • Beginning Drawing Techniques at the Zanesville Museum of Art from 2 to 4 p.m. The class, inspired by draftsman Rembrandt van Rijn, is open to beginning and experienced artists alike. The three-part class (Nov. 3, 10 and 17) will teach the use of cross hatching, dramatic lighting and expressive line work in drawing. The cost is $80 for members and $100 for non-members.

  • 10th Annual Beer for Boobs at Weasel Boy Brewing from 8 to 11 p.m. The event will feature live music from the Dirk Quinn Band, a silent auction, raffles and Beer for Boobs merchandise. The event is in benefit of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Sunday, Nov. 11:

  • Susie’s Favorites Christmas Holiday Open House from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Susie’s Favorites (2500 E. Pike, Zanesville).
  • Model Train Open House from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. second floor of 24 S. Sixth St. in downtown Zanesville.
  • New Concord Veterans Day Celebration at the New Concord Village Hall from 12 to 1 p.m. It’s the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice. Churches will ring a bell at 11 a.m. and pause for a moment of silence. After church, there will be a flag retirement and brief ceremony.
  • Because They Gave. A barbershop tribute to veterans at the John McIntire Public Library Auditorium from 2 to 3 p.m.
