Weekend Planner: July 19 – July 22

Thursday, July 19:

  • Pieces of California Potter Sascha Brastoff and Fenton Topaz Glass Display hosted in the lobby of John McIntire Library from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • 73rd Ohio Annual Exhibition at Zanesville Museum of Art from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The exhibition is celebrating the museum’s commitment to recognizing and promoting some of Ohio’s finest artists and artisans.
  • The Character of Mexico 1959-1960: Works by Dr. Charles Dietz at Zanesville Museum of Art from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Linn Auditorium. Dr. Charles Dietz was the Director of the Zanesville Art Institute from 1954-1995. He took time off to dedicate to his own painting from 1959 – 1960.
  • School Year Open House at Movement on Main Center for Dance from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Explore the newly updated studio while viewing the summer class offerings. Light refreshments will be provided as well as coupons and deals for those who sign up for school-year sessions.
  • Xcarve CNC Routered Sign with Nails Workshop hosted by Zane State College in the IDEA Lab (College Hall Rm. 241/290) from 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Participants can choose between making a personalized 5.5” X 20” rectangle with five nails or a 15” bone with three nails. Lab memberships are discounted 20 percent for all of July. It’s Christmas in July, so start your personalized gift making this Thursday.

Friday, July 20:

  • White Pillars Village Shops Christmas in July Celebration starting on Friday at the White Pillars Village Shops. There will be refreshments, special discounts and giveaways. Call the shops for specific hours.
  • Pieces of California Potter Sascha Brastoff and Fenton Topaz Glass Display hosted in the lobby of John McIntire Library from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  • The Character of Mexico 1959-1960: Works by Dr. Charles Dietz at Zanesville Museum of Art from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Linn Auditorium. Dr. Charles Dietz was the Director of the Zanesville Art Institute from 1954-1995. He took time off to dedicate to his own painting from 1959 – 1960.
  • The Wilds Sunset Safari Tour at 4:30 p.m. Guests enjoy a buffet-style dinner before boarding a safari vehicle to see the animals up close in their open-range habitats. The tour includes a behind-the-scenes viewing of the property. It’s $75 per person or $70 per person for members. Make your reservation here.
  • Seussical Play hosted and put on by the Zanesville Community Theatre from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. The musical is directed by Jillian B. Von Gunten and musically directed by Sheryl Wise.
  • Open Mic Night Special Edition at Weasel Boy Brewing beginning at 8 p.m. Weasel Boy’s monthly mic night is on Friday for July. All ages are welcome to join in on the fun.

Saturday, July 21:

  • White Pillars Village Shops Christmas in July Celebration starting on Friday at the White Pillars Village Shops. There will be refreshments, special discounts and giveaways. Call the shops for specific hours.
  • Quilt Gathering Quilt Show 2018 at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a homemade lunch, door prizes, a boutique-vendors marketplace, demos and a silent auction.   • Zanesville Farmer’s Market from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Fairgrounds on Pershing Road.
  • Pieces of California Potter Sascha Brastoff and Fenton Topaz Glass Display hosted in the lobby of John McIntire Library from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Kindness Rocks second annual fundraiser hosted by CP’s Landscape and Outdoor Supply from 10 p.m. to 4 p.m. Everyone is invited to paint a Kindness Rock and enjoy a meet and greet with The Paw Patrols from 11 p.m. – 11:45 p.m. Raffles, hot dogs and lemonade will be offered throughout the day. Proceeds benefit Habitat For Humanity in Zanesville. JJ Bird and Tim “The Ohio Hillbilly” Bishop will provide live entertainment from 2 p.m to 4 p.m.

  • Christmas in July at Dillon State Park beginning at 11 a.m. There will be Christmas-themed crafts, campsite decorating and more.
  • Benefit for Vicky Sweeney at the American Legion Post No. 29 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be a live auction, Chinese auction and half and half. The proceeds will benefit medical and funeral expenses.
  • Lorena Sternwheeler Public Rides at Zane’s Landing Park from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The sternwheeler travels up the Muskingum River Trail. No reservations are required but guests are asked to arrive 20 minutes before they plan to ride. Seniors ride for $7, Adults ride for $8 and children ride for $4.
  • Stacking Cups Tournament at the John McIntire Public Library from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The tournament is a series of team challenges for children ages 5 – 10. There are prizes for the winning team. Each team must have at least two members. For more information or to reserve a spot for the free program call 740.453.0391 ext. 115.

  • REEL MEAL at the Seiler’s Gallery beginning at 6 p.m. The flier describes the event as “social event” in the historic portion of downtown Zanesville. The group watches a documentary, eats food and socializes. This month’s documentary is Triple Divide [Redacted]. Participants are encouraged to bring snacks or appetizers, a lawn chair and a few dollars to donate.
  • Music on the Patio at Bryan Place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The entertainment this week is provided by the jazz and rock guitarist Stephanie “Star” Harnetty.
  • Seussical Play hosted and put on by the Zanesville Community Theatre from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. The musical is directed by Jillian B. Von Gunten and musically directed by Sheryl Wise.
  • The Lost Dogs at Y-Bridge Brewing Company from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The band covers 90s rock and county as well as some classic rock and newer favorites as well.
  • Deuce ‘n a Quarter live at Weasel Boy Brewing from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. The five-member band covers soulful sounds and blues.

Sunday, July 22:

The sternwheeler travels up the Muskingum River Trail. No reservations are required but guests are asked to arrive 20 minutes before they plan to ride. Seniors ride for $7, Adults ride for $8 and children ride for $4.
  • Frampton Live at Terry’s Tavern from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
