Around 1,600 AEP customers remain without power in Zanesville after an early morning crash brought down several power lines on Moxahala Avenue.

According to the report, the driver, 27 year-old Anthony Williams, told police he drove off the road and crashed when he looked over at the 18 year-old woman in the passenger seat.

The officer wrote that he later overheard Williams say the woman in the passenger seat was performing oral sex on him when he crashed around 3 a.m.

The car Williams was driving snapped the utility pole in half and brought down surrounding power lines.

To do that kind of damage, the officer estimates Williams was driving between 50-60 mph when he lost control.

Despite the estimated speed, neither Williams or his passenger were injured.

According to the report, Williams was acting weird “as far as dancing around and trying to joke with [the officer] about what had happened.”

The officer said Williams denied consuming any alcohol before crashing.

Police ran a field sobriety test on the driver, but did not find him to be intoxicated.

Williams was cited for failure to control.

According to the report, AEP told officers it would take hours to remove the downed lines on top the vehicle, contributing to a nearly 12-hour restoration period.

As of 1:30 p.m., AEP still estimated power to be restored by 3 p.m.
