Traffic is being diverted at the intersection of Marion Avenue and Fairmont Avenue in Zanesville due to downed wires.

According to firefighters at the scene, a neighbor said he heard fireworks followed by the sound of the utility pole crashing.

A firefighter said the pole appeared to be rotting at its base.

AEP was being called to the scene, according to firefighters.

According to AEP’s outage map, fewer than five people were without power in the area.
